Travel Bug: Hong Kong Day 2

Today was an epic day of shopping. Quite an enjoyable and pleasant experience! We stayed on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong and decided to go shopping in a shopping centre called Harbour City. This amazing mall carries mainly high end designer stuff but there are other brand names as well. It’s a crowded and busy area of Hong Kong as it also doubles as the ferry port for ferries heading to Hong Kong Island and cruise ship port.

Harbor City has every designer brand you can think of, and then some. Definitely a must see for shopaholics and fashionistas alike. Once you have made your way around Harbor City, you can head across the street to 1882 Heritage. This shopping complex is also connected to a hotel. It is a gorgeous site with a very interesting history. The main area was formerly the Marine Police Headquarter. There is also a firehall turned optical shop in the complex as well. A place with western architecture, we saw a couple brides do the wedding photography here.

For dinner, we went to one of my aunt’s place for everyone’s favourite: HOT POT! Hot pot is an awesome way to eat great food that you cook yourself at the table (in a hot pot) in the company of everyone. It’s super fun and super easy to do. You just need a pot, table top stove and lots of your favourite foods!

Before dinner, we did some more shopping, this time in Kowloon City area. There are a lot of local shops and street shops as well as a host of convenience stores. It’s not the most glamorous of places, but if you know what you’re looking for, there are a couple of gems in this ultra local area. One of my favourite stores is a shoe store (surprise!). It is called Clarks Outlet (like the shoe brand) which carries a host of comfortable and fashionable shoes for men and women. Most of the styles are nit available in Canada and we cane at a good time as they are clearing out most of their stock to make way for summer shoes. We ended up walking home with THREE new pairs of shoes. For those who have always had trouble looking for flats because of wide feet or flat feet issues, this is the store for you! I bought a pair or super comfortable and sleek flats. Not only are they super cute, they are the epitome of comfort! I was walking the whole day, my feet were exhausted and screaming at me, but once I slipped these flats on I swear my feet gave a sigh of relief.

The day would not have ended perfectly without a delicious serving of one of the best frozen yogurt I have ever had! Tomorrow’s the big day, my cousin’s wedding! I’m looking forward to great celebration, praise and delectable food.
